Meet the Team

  • Susanne McArthur Head Coach

I’m a teacher for close to 20 years and I race all the bikes! Cyclocross, MTB, gravel, road, criterium, triathlon and recently epic adventuring! I love to compete and train! I have been a high-level athlete my whole life, and continually thirst for new challenges. Competitive swimming and playing water polo through high school and university brought me to triathlon in my 20s. I then competed as a nationally ranked Elite and Pro triathlete in ITU events. So my past is full of road racing, criteriums, draft-legal triathlon and time-trialing! But now I spend most of my time on my gravel/cx and MTB. I currently hold an Elite designation in Cyclocross and MTB. I feel strongly about continuing to be a strong role-model in striving for excellence. NCCP Let’s Ride Community Initiation- Certified; NCCP Ready to Race Intro to Competition -Certified; NCCP Competition Development- In-training. PMBIA certified.

  • Colin McArthur (Wolves Coach)

Deeds not words. Colin has been riding and racing all the bikes since 1995! He has a long history in endurance sports, including racing at IM Hawaii. PMBIA instructor

  • David Bopp (Cougars Lead)

Biking is my happy place.  It lets me turn off all the noise of everyday life and be in the moment.  I've been riding mountain bikes since I bought my first thirty years ago when the decision was bike or food and bike won out.  I love seeing my three boys develop a love of mountain biking too.  Plus, the more my wife and boys love mountain biking the more trips we can take to bike new locations and explore new trails.  My goal is to help young athletes develop solid mountain biking skills and a lifelong love of biking in a fun environment that is as safe as possible.  I'm always looking forward to the next ride, high-fives, and big smiles! Development lead. PMBIA certified and David is also the C4XC Treasurer.

  • Amit Dutta (Bears/Wolves Coach)

I love riding mountain bikes and have raced from the Olympic distance to multi day stage races. More recently, to add some variety I have started racing Enduro.  Coaches ask their athletes to push pass their boundaries incrementally, and I believe that coaches need to do the same. That's why I took up Enduro, to add variety and work on gravity based skill development. I enjoy riding and being active with my friends and family, who are all part of this awesome club. Coach for Wolves and Bears. PMBIA

  • Erik Bakke (Bears Coach)

Erik and bikes have been inseparable since he learned to ride, two wheels are the freedom and self actualization tool of his dreams. Erik has raced in cyclocross, XC, time trials and road for 20+ years in Alberta, with a couple provincial championships to show for the effort (XC, TT), plus a lot of memories and friends. His mountain bike racing has taken him to Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Tasmania, New Zealand, Mongolia, Nepal, Spain and of course the USA and Canada. Two wheeled adventures have included Japan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Turkey and a good percentage of Europe. Erik still loves racing and being a mentor to younger cyclists with fresher legs, especially his crew of girls, wife and three daughters, whom all are involved in cycling. When snow flies, Erik does anything on a downhill ski slope, and earned a few FIS points in history racing telemark for team Canada. NCCP Let’s Ride Community Initiation; NCCP Ready to Race Intro to Competition.

  • Cindy Bakke (Bobcats Lead)

I love riding my bike! I ride all the bikes; XC, TT, road, gravel, CX, even a tandem bike! Cross season is my favorite season, nothing makes me happier than a double header CX weekend with my whole family racing! I grew up playing competitive soccer, then found myself on two wheels. I quickly discovered that biking changes you as a person! You are your best person while pedaling a bike! Riding a bike has taken Erik and I all around the globe, with stops in Italy, Spain, Turkey, Myanmar, Guatemala, Colorado, Montana and California. Racing bikes has taught me you can do anything you put your mind to. I love sharing that by example with my three daughters, and watching their love of cycling grow. My goal is to teach our next generation the magic of riding and racing their bikes! NCCP Let’s Ride Community Initiation; NCCP Ready to Race Intro to Competition

  • Jody Szkorupa

My first mountain bike had a steel frame and was heavier than an elephant. My parents made us ride those bikes from Jasper to Banff the summer I turned 13, and I hated biking for a good few years following. When bikes lightened up and full suspension arrived, I've enjoyed it much more! We love being active as a family, and better yet with friends. Coach for Cougars. PMBIA certified
